Sander C. Lekkerkerk studied in the Netherlands with Jan Wijn before moving to Switzerland, where he worked under the guidance of Konstantin Scherbakov at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. He graduated cum laude and is currently completing his final master’s studies. His development has also been shaped by masterclasses with Shuann Chai, Håkon Austbø, Andreas Haefliger, Ulrich Koella, Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Jean-Bernard Pommier, Lawrence Power, and by earlier studies with Miroslav Dimitrov, Marcel Baudet, Dorien Leidelmeijer, Martin Lekkerkerk, and Stéphane de May.
Sander has performed throughout Europe, with appearances in the Netherlands, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Monaco, and Belgium, and has been recognised at international competitions including the FestiVal d’Anniviers.
His concert programmes reflect a careful balance between what audiences want to hear and what he himself believes in — a symbiosis he considers essential to meaningful performance. His programme Singing from the Piano brings together the most beautiful singing melodies in the piano repertoire, including song transcriptions that invite audiences to move with the music. Pieces on Places takes listeners on a journey across the globe through works each connected to a specific location on earth, supported by images and spoken context that allow the music to be not just heard, but felt and imagined.
Alongside his performing career, Sander engages deeply with literature, philosophy, and reflective writing in the form of essays and poetry.
